The East Boston Neighborhood Health Center may be just around the corner, but our technology is state-of-the-art. While our electronic system may be surprisingly sophisticated, its purpose is simple: to provide the highest quality of care to our patients.

In 1998, we implemented EpicCare, a tier-one electronic medical records system that integrates patient care, registration, scheduling, and billing. Our years of experience with this powerful platform mean that its capabilities are now fully integrated, and its benefits are clear throughout the health center.

In addition to conserving resources and ensuring consistent care, this system enables us to collect data and recognize specific areas of need within our community. For patients with chronic conditions, such as diabetes, our system enables us to track their treatment plans and progress.

In December 2005, we launched an emergency department system, which includes an electronic tracking system for our Emergency Department. Within a week, this new technology helped us better understand and improve patient flow and care delivery. With its assistance, we can map each patient’s experience and treatment, including exactly when the patient arrived, the reason they have come to see us, how long their wait has been, and where in the health center they have received treatment.

Throughout the East Boston Neighborhood Health Center, technology is a means to better identify and meet the needs of our patients. As we stay on the forefront of medical care, we seek to keep pace with technological developments that support the care we give.
