The Endocrinology Service diagnoses and treats patients with disorders of the endocrine system (glands that release hormones). In the United States, the most common endocrine disease is diabetes. Hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid) and hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid) are also common. Since most endocrine disorders are chronic diseases that need lifelong care, many of our patients with endocrine disorders are referred to our innovative Chronic Disease Education and Management (CDEM) program to learn how to proactively manage their own health.
