kiddentalHealthy smiles,
happy kids

When it comes to a healthy smile, an ounce of prevention goes a long way. At the East Boston Neighborhood Health Center, we know that helping children establish good oral hygiene at an early age is the best path to healthy teeth in adulthood.

Our Pediatric Dental Services Department provides child-centered dental care to children from birth to age 18. Because we specialize in caring for children, a visit to our office is a positive experience that helps kids feel good about seeing a dentist and caring for their own teeth. We work hard to make you and your child feel comfortable here, because we want you to come back!

Specialized services

Our services are offered in accordance with the guidelines established by the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. We speak Spanish and Portuguese, and are able to schedule Interpreter Services for many other languages. Our dental care includes:

  • Routine dental cleanings and examinations
  • Fluoride treatments
  • X-rays
  • Fillings
  • Extractions
  • Patient education
  • Dietary counseling
  • Interceptive orthodontics (space maintenance, minor tooth movement, expansion appliances)

Referrals

In the event that a child requires dental services that we do not provide in our office, we make referrals to Boston Medical Center, Boston University, Franciscan Hospital for Children, and private dentists in the neighborhood.

We accept most dental insurance plans, including MassHealth, Children’s Medical Security, and commercial dental insurances. If you don’t have dental insurance, please call Enrollment Services at 617-568-4636 to explore the options available to your child. Nearly all of our patients are able to secure dental coverage—and we’d like to help you, too.

Exceptional care providers

Through a longstanding relationship with the Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine, dentists specializing in the post-doctorate pediatric dentistry program work in our department for their clinical rotations. These talented dentists are committed to the extra caring and patience that pediatric dentistry requires, and they share our philosophy of the importance of prevention.

Our departmental staff includes: Susan Lo, DMD, Dental Director; Julie Vellante, CDA, Dental Supervisor; Sarah Irias and Karla Obando, Dental Assistants; and Senior Clerical Associate Yolanda Merino.

Making an appointment
To make an appointment, call the Pediatric Dental Department directly at 617-568-4515. No referral is necessary, and your child does not need to be a patient of the health center. To ensure that our busy office can accommodate all of our patients, we have a policy of no more than two no-show appointments per child (missing an appointment without calling to cancel).

The Pediatric Dental Department’s hours are:

Monday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Tuesday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Wednesday 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Friday 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

We are located at 79 Paris Street, second floor (100 yards from the main health center building on Gove Street). Call us at 617-568-4515. We look forward to serving your family!
